Solutions
The remotely managed process is sustainable and scalable as it meets a site’s energy needs by converting low grade residues into heat and power for use within the production cycle. Typically the fuel (litter or spent mushroom compost for example) from the previous batch is used to provide heat and electricity for the current batch. This also solves the increasing dilemma on residue disposal. Traditionally these would be landspread for parts of the year, a practice which is being restricted due to environmental concerns.
Applications
The innovative, patented technology has global potential as it is suitable for a wide range of high ash, high mineral and low calorific fuels. These include; poultry litter, spent mushroom compost, wood particles with high moisture content, meat and bone meal, straw and miscanthus.
Benefits
There is a range of potential benefits for the agribusiness producer:
- Electricity revenue.
- Carbon trading the offset propane usage.
- Control over their waste disposal and heating costs.
- Improved production associated with an indirect, abundant heat supply.
- Marketing benefits from a Carbon Neutral production process.
- Phosphorus recycling
